Reproductive Endocrine Assoc. Assisted Reproduction Q & A

Are there treatments for the woman who has had repeated miscarriages or failed IVF?

Yes. We recommend that an immunologic profile be performed for women who have had repeated miscarriages or previous failed IVF attempts. A comprehensive reevaluation of the patient is strongly recommended. In some cases an anatomic abnormality may be found in the womb. In other cases, hormone deficiencies account for the bulk of the problem. Finally, abnormal immune responses can be detected and treated to facilitate the achievement of a healthy pregnancy.
