Our Institute recommends 4 basic tests for the female partner after a full medical history and physical examination.

Hormonal studies, performed on day 3 of the menstrual cycle Hysterosalpingogram, or x-ray of the uterus and fallopian tubes, to check for uterine abnormalities and blockages of fallopian tubes Postcoital examination, performed at midcycle after intercourse, to examine the interaction of the cervical mucus and the partner's sperm Transvaginal ultrasound of the pelvis, to examine the anatomy of the major pelvic organs, particularly the uterus and ovaries
Optional testing:
- Endometrial sampling in luteal phase
- Progesterone level in the luteal phase
- Immunologic testing for antiphospholipid antibodies
- Laparoscopy
- Hysteroscopy
For the male partner with normal reproductive function we recommend four basic sperm function tests.
